The organising committee of the EAPC Research Forum 2008 is delighted to extend an invitation to our colleagues and friends to join us on board the coastal express Hurtigruten as part of the pre-conference event. This voyage is the perfect setting to take part in our unique pre-conference program, which highlights the opportunity to meet the world’s leading experts in the fields of pain, cachexia and depression in palliative care.

Participants are invited to attend parallel group activities and lectures by our invited guest speakers. The main pre-conference seminar will take place in the scenic Lofoten Islands, before returning to the conference city of Trondheim. This journey will allow time for both scientific and leisure activities.

The seminar is organised in collaboration between the EAPC Research Network and the European Palliative Care Research Collaborative (EPCRC), a multinational EU funded project (www.epcrc.org). The seminar will be CME accredited. Participants may bring accompanying persons on this trip.

Join your fellow researchers and practitioners on board to experience cutting edge seminars and share insights on the latest research developments.

Climate and clothing:

The Lofoten Islands are situated roughly 350 kilometers (217 miles) north of the artic circle. Climatic conditions are unpredictable, and temperatures in late May may range from 0 degrees celcius (32 farenheit) to 25 degrees celcius (77 farenheit). It is recommended you bring adequate clothes, preferrably a Gore-tex jacket, water repellent shoes/boots and warm sweaters. Although we can guarantee for you to experience the midnight sun and a spectacular scenery, we cannot rule out the possibility of rain! The social program and activities for accompanying persons will be considered according to the weather conditions.
